On Tuesday night, the Berlin Home Sharing Club held their second meeting in Berlin. Around 40 home sharers from across Berlin came together at BetaHaus in Kreuzberg to call for clear home sharing rules. Home Sharing and the housing crisis are important topics for this year’s elections in Berlin and they affect many Airbnb hosts personally.
The meetup was led by Sebastian, founder of the Home Sharing Club Berlin, and Katrin, who has been incredibly engaged since becoming a home sharer over three years ago. Sebastian and Katrin described in detail the actions active hosts all over Berlin have already taken and what they have achieved so far.
Hosts have engaged with multiple politicians, including the Mayor of Berlin and the Senator for Urban Development, have spoken out at larger events and public hearings as well as being interviewed by the press for various articles.
Sebastian and Katrin set out how home sharers can effectively call for clear home sharing rules, engage with election programmes and have their voices heard in the coming weeks. It was great to see them share their stories, ideas and enthusiasm for clear home sharing rules.
The atmosphere was incredibly positive and feedback very helpful. The majority of hosts who attended the event not only signed up for the Home Sharing Club but also agreed to take action in the coming months. It’s great to see such an engaged community fighting for clear and fair home sharing regulation in Berlin!
