A few weeks ago, we launched Airbnb Action in Berlin. Since then engaged hosts have come together to support home sharing and call for fair rules in Berlin through numerous actions. We wanted to share a few small examples and let you know how you can join!
Airbnb hosts have launched Home Sharing Clubs in Berlin and Frankfurt, with more cities coming soon.

More than 80 Berliners have emailed their District Mayors in Berlin to share their stories and call for fair home sharing rules.
Last month, 17 Airbnb hosts attended the District Council of Mitte’s Citizen Inquiry Session. Hosts went to Rathaus Mitte to discuss fair home sharing rules with their local district council. Hosts also attended a session in Pankow on the 29 June. It is great to see so many passionate hosts speak out for home sharing!
Airbnb hosts across Berlin have met with city and district politicians to share their stories and the impacts of home sharing rules in Berlin.
Sebastian, a host from Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, asked Mayor Michael Müller about his views on current home sharing rules. According to Sebastian, Müller replied that rules need to be more precise and differentiate between home sharers and commercial operators.
And at a recent event in Tempodrom, Airbnb hosts shared their stories with Andreas Geisel, Senator for Urban Development. They asked for clear and fair home sharing rules.
It is great to see such a community of active and engaged hosts in Berlin. There’s so much more to do!
With the elections looming, there are many ways the Airbnb community can take action and stand up for fair rules for home sharing in Berlin.
When you connect with the team, they will show you just a few of the actions you can take:
- WRITE to candidates for the upcoming elections in your district
- MEET with these candidates, arrange to see them in their office hours
- ATTEND public events hosted by candidates
- JOIN the Berlin Home Sharing Club. There will be another meetup to kick off these actions this August.
