It is a busy time for the home sharing community in Berlin. Recently, over 130 hosts attended the launch of Berlin’s new Home Sharing Club. Everyone gathered in the spacious and strikingly minimalistic premises of the Kunztschule, near Friedrichstraße in Mitte. The event featured a presentation on Home Sharing Clubs all over the world and how engaged hosts have worked together to take various actions, and with great success.

Many in attendance signed up to take concrete actions to support their right to share their homes in Berlin and to urge clear and fair rules on home sharing in the German capital. The new Berlin Home Sharing Club will meet at least once per month and will be led by home sharing hosts from Berlin.

I rent out my own apartment, in which I live. I have no negative impact on the housing market, that’s why I want clear and fair rules for home sharing” said long-term Airbnb host Katrin. “Tonight I have the feeling that something has been put into motion. It is inspiring to see so many engaged hosts come together, motivated to make a difference.

Airbnb hosts provide unique travel experiences by welcoming guests into their homes. Many rely on the additional income to improve their daily lives. Home sharing also has a positive impact on tourism and local development across the country. Berlin’s Home Sharing Club brings together a group of dedicated home sharing hosts, who have come together to campaign for clear and fair rules for sharing their homes in Berlin. This new independent club is an initiative run by home sharing hosts from Berlin.

We look forward to seeing more Home Sharing Clubs established throughout Germany!
